Fear and Anxiety

Hi Friends,
I’m Nikki Davis, author of My Emotions Are Not Me, which will be coming out soon.
Big emotions- we all have them and they can really suck! And with all the crazy stuff going on in the world it can be hard to avoid them. You’re not alone.
It’s easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of our emotions. But ALL our emotions are healthy and can reveal a deeper truth about ourselves.
So, let’s talk about fear and anxiety.
When we have fear and there isn’t an immediate threat to our life, our anxiety reveals our IMAGINATION! That's right, having anxiety means you have the capacity to imagine great things. I’m NOT saying that your anxiety isn’t valid! All your emotions are absolutely valid. They are not good or bad. They are just weather. Inner weather, if you will. So when you start to see fear/anxiety as the weather and imagination as the source of that weather, you can start to lean into your imagination and create a new world.
Here are 5 ways to move from anxiety to creative imagination:
1. Breathe (slow, smooth breaths through your nose).
2. Move your body- go for a walk, run or put on your favorite playlist and dance
here's our favorite playlist for shaking booty: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4qbOtl11ujiJMeSdB0qEHG?si=1528ba8af73843ce.
3. Get creative- Draw your fear but make it silly. (If you’re afraid of snakes- make them fart!) The great thing about making art is that you get to create whatever you want.
4. Massage some acupuncture points- Here are my favorite acupuncture points for dealing with anxiety (be sure to rub each point on both the right and left hands):

5. Have a soothing cup of tea. My favorite tea when anxiety runs high is a blend of chamomile and valerian.
Affirmation: “I use my imagination to create a world of love and life”
*If you are suffering from severe anxiety please seek the counsel of a doctor or licensed therapist*
